Takeda Shingen, 1521-1573 by Vincent Wai
Takeda
Shingen was one of the most famous daimyo during the Sengoku-jidai (Age of
the Warring States) of 16th century Japan. He was the archrival of Uesugi
Kenshin and his war banner carried a short quote from Sun Tzu's Art of
War: Swift as the wind, Silent as a forest,
Fierce as fire, Immovable as a mountain. The painting depicts Shingen
before the Fourth Battle of Kawanakajima in 1561.
